Brought back memories I had hoped were gone

I visited Dachau in 1977, during a visit to Munich. I remember how numb I felt by the time we left, a feeling I hoped to never feel again. But reading the descriptions here and seeing the photos of the different areas of the camp brought it all back to me. I am glad the author mentioned the use of the ovens because when I visited there were signs denying the ovens had ever been used. But reading the descriptions here and seeing the photos of the different areas of the camp brought it all back to me. I am glad the author mentioned the use of the ovens because when I visited there were signs denying the ovens had ever been used. That evening I spoke with a U.S. Army dependant who grew up in the town of Dachau during WWII and she told me of the black smoke and the horrible smell of burning bodies.
I think more people need to really learn about Dachau and the other camps and realize the true horror that the Nazis brought on people. So many now are trying to deny this ever happened. See the truth and you can't deny the history.

Very Informative Read

This was a very interesting read and would recommend to anyone who has an interest in the factual matters of the camp, such as the day-to-day running of the camp etc.

It is a very well referenced book, great for students as well as the plain curious.

Man's inhumanity to man

Well written and researched. I was there in the early 60s and was chased away by one of.the nuns standing guard over this window to the past. God forbid we let this tragedy happen again.

A very good guide

Having visited Dachau this year. I am impressed by this guide. It treats Dachau with the importance and gravity due to without an over emotional hand ringing. This it shows the monstrous nature of the as and Nazi Germany in an inarguably clear historical light.

I bought and read this book because I was going to visit Dachau this summer. Unfortunately, the virus cancelled my plans. This book is a summary of the history of the camp. It's a short and direct historical read. I'm glad I bought it and will reread it prior to my rescheduled visit. I bought and read this book because I was going to visit Dachau this summer.
